Roers Companies is honored to be featured in the Winter 2024 issue of Affordable Housing News, where Chief Operating Officer Shane LaFave shares how the firm is driving sustainable growth in affordable housing while staying true to our entrepreneurial roots.
Since launching in 2012, Roers Cos. has developed over 14,000 units nationwide, representing more than $3.7 billion in total project costs. Affordable housing units make up nearly half of the firm’s current development pipeline. In his interview, LaFave underscores how vertical integration and creative financing strategies have helped Roers Cos. thrive in a complex housing environment. “We’ve continued to find a way, and I’m proud of that,” he says. “A lot of that is a testament to the team.”
Roers Cos. has become increasingly active in Arizona, where demand for affordable housing is high. One highlight includes Calypso at Ballpark Village in Goodyear — a 203-unit affordable housing community that kicked off in late 2024. The project is located near the city’s expansive new recreation campus, blending accessibility, community, and smart planning.
LaFave also points to Roers Cos.’ nimble, mission-driven approach as a key differentiator. From assembling complex funding stacks to managing construction and property operations in-house, the firm remains aggressive and adaptable in our pursuit of impact. “It’s going to sometimes be the difference between a deal not working and working,” he notes.
Roers Cos. is proud to continue building vibrant communities where our residents can thrive.
