Roers Companies was founded by brothers Kent and Brian Roers in 2012 as a response to a) the need for innovative multifamily housing solutions in fast-growing areas, and b) demand for unique real estate investment opportunities for private individuals. Recognizing this opportunity, Kent and Brian proactively engaged bankers, contractors, and investors to develop a sustainable financial model for each project. While Brian focused on crafting proformas and ensuring financial feasibility, Kent leveraged his experience in financial planning to navigate fundraising and investment strategies. The combination of their individual expertise and collaborative approach laid the foundation for Roers Cos.
Prior to establishing Roers Cos., Kent and Brian cultivated successful careers in separate sectors. Kent held a position as a financial planner, while Brian worked as a certified public accountant. Beyond their professional pursuits, the brothers owned rental properties together, gaining real-life experience in property management, maintenance, and the financial advantages of real estate investment. This combination of professional proficiency and firsthand experience with rental housing fueled their entrepreneurial spirit and ultimately led to the creation of Roers Cos.
Through regular client interactions, Kent recognized a growing interest in alternative investment options beyond traditional stocks and bonds. Clients frequently expressed a desire to participate in the real estate space alongside him, highlighting a potential market gap. This sparked a conversation with Brian. Together, they recognized the opportunity to transform their personal real estate endeavors into a full-fledged business. They identified a crucial void in the multifamily investment landscape: while individuals desired involvement in the sector, the only readily available path involved the challenges and burdens of direct ownership of individual rental properties. By establishing Roers Cos., Kent and Brian aimed to bridge this gap by developing institutional-grade multifamily assets and offering direct investment opportunities to everyday individuals.
Roers Cos. began with small multifamily developments made possible by dozens of friends-and-family investors. Since then, the firm has transformed into a company with a fully integrated model that includes in-house development, construction, property management, and asset management. Incorporating everything under one roof means more control over costs and outcomes for each project. Owning every major part of the process for each project also means investors can expect more visibility and transparency when partnering with Roers Cos.

Roers Cos. experienced significant growth in 2023, adding more than 150 individuals across all departments and adding nine new multifamily properties with 1,584 units to the portfolio. To successfully execute projects in key markets, we’ve expanded our general contracting team in Austin, Texas and added an office in Tampa, Florida.
Roers Cos. also garnered prestigious industry recognition in 2023. The company joined the National Multifamily Housing Council’s (NMHC) 2023 Top 25 Developers, which ranks the nation’s most active apartment developers. Additionally, Roers Cos. was named a 2023 Star Tribune Top 200 Workplace, acknowledging a commitment to employee engagement and satisfaction. The company’s achievements also include being selected as Developer of the Year at the 2023 Minnesota Real Estate Awards, surpassing 11 other contenders.
