Roers Companies builds culture through our values, which serve as a blueprint for team members when making decisions, interacting with others, and going about their workday. In a recent episode of the Culture Architects podcast, Co-Founder and Owner Brian Roers sat down with host David J. Friedman to share how Roers Cos. has intentionally designed a culture rooted in shared values and everyday action.
The two-part interview explores what it takes to scale a strong, values-driven culture across a growing, multi-state company. Throughout the conversation, one message rang clear: the success of Roers Cos. is built on the strength of its people.
Intentionality with culture begins long before someone has their first performance review. “We have a phrase we picked up years ago: we love people who are humble, hungry, and smart. That really summarizes what we’re looking for,” Brian shares. Our company uses tools like the Culture Index to hire team members for the right seat, while our internal Culture Blueprint guide helps ensure they’re the right fit, and then we invest in their development from day one.
“Onboarding is the part we really focus on,” Brian explains. “Once they’re on board, how are we getting them up to speed as fast as we can, because that’s when they’re going to be a team member, and that’s when you build the retention for someone who will be here long-term.” Roers Cos. reinforces this people-first approach through professional development opportunities like monthly “coaching and coffee” sessions, leadership training, and 1:1 coaching — plus recognition programs like our annual RoCo Awards.
