The 2024 Engage Conference brought our entire team together for two powerful days of learning and collaboration July 11-12, 2024. Team members built connections, honed their skills, and celebrated achievements from the first half of the year. Now, energized and aligned, the team is setting ambitious goals for the future!
Opening Insights
The conference kicked off with Roers Cos.’ owners and executives sharing insights and forecasting the future of Roers Companies. Their presentations provided a clear roadmap, emphasizing the importance of strategic growth and innovation. They also brought a level of engagement with messaging building off of Indiana Jones’ daring adventures and determination to overcome obstacles.
Building Connections
Networking opportunities were abundant, allowing employees to forge new connections and deepen existing relationships. The Culture Index concepts shared by speaker John Conger were particularly impactful, helping attendees better understand team dynamics and individual strengths. A scavenger hunt through the Mall of America followed, bringing out competitive spirits and strengthening team bonds. A standout feature of this year’s conference was the Summer Showdown. This exciting event broke the mold of traditional content-filled days, encouraging team members to step out of their usual roles and interact with colleagues from different departments. The energy was palpable, and the connections made will undoubtedly enhance collaborative efforts going forward.
Inspiring Sessions
Friday’s sessions were packed with inspiration and practical skills. Brian Roers and Kent Roers shared their origin story, offering a glimpse into the company’s humble beginnings and the vision that continues to drive the team forward. Leadership coach Sarah Tostrud provided valuable insights on cultivating grit, while Anne Walter led a thought-provoking discussion on the power of feedback.
The afternoon buzzed with activity as breakout sessions offered hands-on practice in skills such as fixing drywall and painting. A dedicated session on Fair Housing highlighted important regulatory insights, and an “Ask the Experts” panel provided a platform for addressing pressing questions. The fun didn’t stop there—a Lego exercise added an element of playful creativity to the day.
