Havenwood of Maple Grove, a new senior living community located at the intersection of Bass Lake Road and County Road 101, opened its doors to the first residents today. The $33 million, 200,000 sq. ft. community is the sixth in the portfolio developed and owned by Minnetonka-based Roers Cos.

This is the second Havenwood Senior Living location to open since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, with Havenwood of Buffalo opening its doors on June 25, 2020 amid aggressive restrictions to minimize virus exposure to vulnerable seniors. Staff at Roers Cos. and operator Walker Methodist are looking forward to a more welcoming experience this time around.

“We faced several new challenges with the pandemic that we hadn’t when opening other communities in our portfolio,” Jeff Koch, Roers Cos. partner, who oversees the firm’s senior living projects. Koch noted that the tour process in particular had changed dramatically back in June, when the firm opened their fifth Havenwood in Buffalo, MN. The operator’s sales and marketing teams created video presentations and virtual tours to showcase apartments and amenities to potential residents and their families.

“Now that 85% of the 65+ population in Minnesota has been vaccinated, we’re able to do in-person tours and make that human-to-human connection,” he said.

Thanks to a strong vaccination rate among older Minnesotans and recent changes to the State of Minnesota’s quarantine requirements for individuals moving into senior living communities, this week’s move-in experience looks quite a bit different from what the owners and operators of Havenwood of Buffalo experienced last summer. Masks, physical distancing and frequent handwashing will still be required, but Havenwood of Maple Grove residents might not be required to spend their first 14 days quarantined in their apartment, based on their current vaccination status.

The new residents at Havenwood of Maple Grove will have a number of amenities to help make their new home more enjoyable. There’s an on-site restaurant and dining space, plus a café, pub room, and community lounge for social gatherings. The community offers a fitness center, golf simulator, salon, and dog wash station for added convenience.

Havenwood of Maple Grove is now leasing studio through 2-bedroom independent and assisted living apartments as well as memory care suites.
