Roers Companies joined partners on January 16 to celebrate the completion of Alcott Village. This project revitalized a 248-unit affordable housing community in East Houston, formerly known as Summit at Bennington. A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the transformation of the property.
The $68.8 million renovation was delivered through a public–private partnership with the Harris County Housing Finance Corporation and the Houston Housing Finance Corporation, preserving critically needed affordable housing. Alcott Village serves households earning up to 60% of the area median income, with 25 apartments reserved for families earning 50% or less.
Roers Cos. undertook the renovation to modernize aging systems, enhance the quality of homes and amenities, and ensure the property remained competitive and comfortable for residents. Enhancements included equipping all apartment homes with new appliances, HVAC systems, lighting, and plumbing fixtures, as well as a new roof and exterior improvements. Residents now enjoy refreshed community spaces, including a new clubhouse theater and fitness room, resurfaced pool area, and an upgraded playground.

“Alcott Village demonstrates how thoughtful reinvestment can deliver meaningful improvements for residents,” said Logan Schmidt, development partner with Roers Cos.
The completion of Alcott Village has received regional media attention, with coverage from Bisnow and FOX26. From planning through completion, Alcott Village represents the collective effort of many teams working toward a common goal. Roers Cos. extends its appreciation to everyone involved in bringing this important community investment to completion and supporting housing stability for renters.
